Royal Academy Buffies Arrive This September
Brawl Stars is introducing new Buffies in September 2026 as the Royal Academy season begins. The release covers six Brawlers across Poco’s Bandstand and Ghost Station, with Poco, El Primo, Amber, Gus, Chuck and Shade all receiving ability-focused additions or changes. The rollout follows the end of the two-season Ramen Rebellion and arrives alongside Royal Academy content that includes the new Brawler Cosmo and a Duolingo collaboration event.
The September update was revealed in the August 2026 Brawl Talk and includes 18 new Buffies, excluding Bling Buffies. The stated structure gives each of the six featured Brawlers Buffies connected to Gadgets, Star Powers and Hypercharges. In practical terms, the changes touch several parts of a Brawler’s kit rather than concentrating only on one upgrade type. Some entries add effects to attacks or Supers, while others alter movement, shields, range, healing, crowd control or resource use. Royal Academy starts on September 3, 2026, placing these additions at the opening of the new season rather than later in its run.

Six Brawlers receive September Buffies
Poco’s additions are built around support and Super utility. Tuning Fork lets healing enemies briefly increase their reload speed, while Protective Tunes gains greater Gadget range and duration. De Capo! makes Poco’s Super increase the Super charge rate of full-health allies for three seconds, and Screeching Solo adds a brief silence to enemies hit by the Super. Medic’s Melody increases the Super attack’s range to 180 degrees. El Primo’s listed changes focus on movement, protection and follow-up pressure. Suplex Supplement now has him dash to an enemy before the Suplex damage is dealt. Asteroid Belt creates a shield that blocks all projectiles for two seconds, with every blocked bullet charging his Super.
El Fuego’s burn lasts longer when attacks continue immediately, Meteor Rush grants an additional shield with the Super, and Gravity Leap increases basic-attack range while adding burns to enemies. Amber’s September package includes a notable Wild Flames rework. Fire Starters produces two oil barrels rather than one, Dancing Flames increases movement speed, and Wild Flames grants movement speed near fire or oil. Scorchin’ Siphon extends enemy burn duration by one second, while Oil Spill makes her main attack burn enemies. Separately, Wild Flames is described as completely changed, and Scorchin’ Siphon is said to refill Amber’s fuel faster when she hits burning enemies.
The Ghost Station group brings changes for Gus, Chuck and Shade, with the details ranging from projectile behavior to pole movement and wall-based effects. Gus’s Kooky Popper causes enemies struck by exploding spirits to briefly lose all ammunition. Soul Switcher spawns a spirit for every enemy hit with the Gadget, while Health Bonanza makes spirits slowly move toward the nearest allies. Spirit Animal gives allies hit by Gus’s Super increased movement speed, and Spooky Pop makes basic-attack projectiles bigger and able to pass through walls.
Chuck receives a season-start rework in addition to his Buffies. He begins a match with four Super charges; every pole placed reduces a charge, and one is also used to move through the poles. Rerouting removes the nearest pole and supplies a full Super charge plus a shield. Ghost Train leaves fire behind when Chuck travels using poles, Pit Stop deals area damage when a pole is placed and keeps that damage area for several seconds, and Tickets Please increases his speed when using Super through poles. Full Steam Ahead adds area damage when dashing through poles and makes Chuck’s basic-attack range wider.
Ghost Station changes and Ghost Buffie skins
Shade’s additions combine displacement, defense and altered critical-hit space. Longarms pulls every enemy hit by the next attack toward the center of the critical attack. Jump Scare has Shade jump in the target direction before frightening enemies to slow them down, and it also gives Shade a shield. Spooky Speedster reduces Gadget cooldown when enemies are hit with a critical attack, Hardened Hoodie extends Super duration, and The Frightener heals Shade inside walls while not landing critical hits. The Hypercharge also increases critical-damage area and damage outside walls. The season also adds cosmetic Ghost Buffie skins. These are specifically visual skins with no gameplay benefits, described as giving Buffies a ghastly green look. The first Ghost Buffie skins cover two trios: Gift Shop’s Colette, Edgar and Griff, plus Mortuary’s Mortis, Frank and Emz. Each of these skins costs 49 Gems. Their separation from the gameplay Buffies is important: the six-Brawler ability update changes how listed Gadgets, Star Powers or Hypercharges function, while the Ghost Buffie skins change appearance only.
- Royal Academy begins September 3, 2026, ending the two-season Ramen Rebellion period and bringing the September Buffies into the game with the new season.
- The gameplay Buffies apply to Poco, El Primo, Amber, Gus, Chuck and Shade; Ghost Buffie skins are separate cosmetic items for the Gift Shop and Mortuary trios.

| Brawler or cosmetic group | Supported September detail |
|---|---|
| Poco, El Primo and Amber | Poco gains support-oriented Super effects, El Primo receives dash, shield and burn-related additions, and Amber receives oil, burn and movement-focused changes including a Wild Flames rework. |
| Gus, Chuck and Shade | Gus gains spirit and projectile utility, Chuck’s pole system is reworked alongside new pole effects, and Shade receives critical-attack, shield, Super-duration and wall-related changes. |

September’s Royal Academy launch ties a broad Buffie rollout to six established Brawlers while keeping the new Ghost Buffie skins strictly cosmetic. With Ramen Rebellion ending and Royal Academy beginning on September 3, the update combines kit-specific changes for Poco, El Primo, Amber, Gus, Chuck and Shade with a separate visual collection for two additional trios.
